An OLI customer reported that the amount of a lithium sulfate solid observed in a pilot plant was severely underpredicted by OLI Flowsheet. OLI has determined that the binary interaction parameters had not yet been developed for the system of interest. The Optimizer Tool in OLI Flowsheet can quickly develop these parameters to match the observed plant data. Jim Berthold will show how he determined which parameters are missing and which need improvement. Jim will then go on to explain his rationale to use the optimizer tool to develop or improve the parameters. Finally, he will show how to model the plant using the updated parameters. This is the beginning baby steps in developing digital twins to existing processes.
