30+ years research &
development
This research has produced a reliable,
accurate and predictive electrolyte model which simulates the behavior
of almost any combination of chemicals in water, within the range of conditions
of -50 to 300 C, 0 to 1500 bar, and up to 30 molal ionic strength.
The OLI Engine be used in other process flowsheeting
systems
YES! OLI = Superior Electrolyte Handling
As a result, interfaces are available to
the major process flowsheet simulators, for use in their systems when
electrolytes are a factor.

Test your AQ / IQ (answer TRUE or FALSE)
Aqueous chemical systems
are usually complex and difficult to predict.
TRUE! It is essential for
scientists and engineers to understand such systems including the effects
of trace components, pH, temperature, and other factors on their process
systems. Over the past 30-plus years, OLI has refined software which accurately
models multiphase, multicomponent aqueous solutions for virtually any
mixture of chemicals. The basis for OLIs Software is the "OLI
Engine."
The OLI Databanks model phase behavior for virtually
any combination of chemicals in water.
TRUE!
The OLI Databank contains thermodynamic,
transport, and physical properties for 79
inorganic elements of the
periodic table, and their associated aqueous species, as well as over
3000 organics. Thus, most mixtures of chemicals in water
can be modeled, provided the solvent of the solution is water.
OLI's thermodynamic framework is predictive for multicomponent aqueous systems.
TRUE! The OLI
Thermodynamic Framework provides accurate prediction of multicomponent
aqueous systems including aqueous liquid, vapor, organic liquid, and multiple
solid phases over the general range of 0 to 30 molal, -50 to 300 oC,
and 0 to 1500 Bar. Computed thermodynamic properties such as pH, ionic
strength, enthalpy, density, osmotic pressure are supplied automatically.
OLI's Technology covers advanced phenomena such as
redox chemistry, ion exchange.
TRUE! Upon the user's request,
the aqueous model includes redox chemistry, coprecipitation and reaction
kinetics. Also available are surface phenomena such as ion exchange,
surface complexation and molecular adsorption (carbon adsorption). Transport
properties such as electrical conductivity, viscosity and diffusivity
are also available.
